Our Founder
The Late Bishop Alfred Johnson
02/18/1944 to 02/09/2007
Bishop Johnson believed there is a need to return to God, in repenting, in prayer, and studying of God’s word honestly. He prayed to God that we see the need to seek him in our homes and churches as in days of old, when we sought Jesus for his power, grace, forgiveness, and for his love until the Holy Ghost came into our lives.
Christian formation is the forming of Christ’s character in us. It takes the fruit of the Spirit, working in us, in order for us to be properly formed in Christ. Fruit means that which is produced in the life of a Christian by the grace and spirit of Jesus Christ.
He exalted us to do as the Apostle Paul stated, “above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God, Praying always with all prayers and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints: …with lowliness and meekness with long-suffering forbearing one another in love.
Bishop Johnson reiterated that the word of God states, And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity (I Corinthians 13:13). He taught us that we must have attitudes and behaviors consistent with love. When Christ comes again, faith will give way to sight, and hope will give way to fulfillment, but love will abide forever. That is why love is so important in our lives now; so let us love like Christ so that when he appears, we will see his face in peace.
Bishop Johnson was a man of great faith that had a great vision for the people of God. He was a man truly after the heart of God. We are so grateful to be apart of the legacy he began.
